A new company based in the Republic of Ireland Lloyd-Sersa (IE) Ltd, has recently joined IoRW as a Corporate Member. The Sersa Group and Lloyd Rail (Ireland) jointly own the company, which has been created to offer a range of track renewal and maintenance services in the Irish Republic.

The Sersa Group is a pan European company headquartered in Switzerland offering a wide range of services to the rail industry including new construction, renewal and maintenance.

Lloyd Rail is a wholly Irish owned provider of operating personnel for specialist track-mounted rail maintenance machines.

The joint company will offer a wide range of services in Ireland including: aluminothermic welding services to Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail); flash butt welding; RalVac ballast excavation; the Sersa patented Second Life System for cost-effective refurbishment of switches and crossings; and consultancy services on track renewals and maintenance.

Lloyd Rail Managing Director Billy Stamp said: 'We are delighted to be associated with such a leading innovator in rail contracting as the Sersa Group. We look forward to working together through our joint company Lloyd-Sersa to provide cutting edge technologies to Irish heavy and light rail operators. I believe that Sersa's commitment to quality, innovation, value and the highest standards closely matches our own. As such I have tremendous confidence in our future operations together and look forward to offering a portfolio of cost effective solutions to our Irish clients.'

The Sersa Group Operations Officer Martin Benkler said:

'The decision to join forces with Lloyd Rail marks an important development in the history of Sersa Group. This is an exciting development for Sersa Group as it expands its service offering within Ireland through organic growth, while maintaining our reputation for excellence that is a Sersa Group yardstick, and which we see reflected in our partner Lloyd Rail. This relationship allows Lloyd-Sersa (IE) Ltd to utilise its collective strengths in the development of cost effective market specific products for the Irish Markets. Furthermore, as Lloyd Rail have said, it allows us to bring new and leading edge technologies into the market such that the client can justify the decision to appoint us not just on cost or programme basis. We also, of course, employ and train local people, which we consider to be a vital component of long term success. I believe that the collaboration of two robust companies such as Lloyd Rail and the Sersa Group offer exciting opportunities for Iarnrod Eireann, together with the wider Irish market, to deliver their corporate objectives in a safe and stable environment which provides the basis for a long and successful future for all'.
