1000th IoRW member - Balfour Beatty Rail Technologies

After graduating from Loughborough University in 2001 in Mechanical Engineering Laura took time out to travel the world and think about where her career should lie. Laura joined Balfour Beatty Rail Projects in the summer of 2002 as a design and development engineer working on their embedded slab track project. This role has exposed her to many areas of the rail industry but more specifically, the development of a new rail profile which is currently undergoing product acceptance testing for aluminothermic and flash butt welding techniques. By joining the IoRW, Laura tells us that she hopes to expand on her currently limited knowledge and experience on this subject.
