Qualifications and experience

If you have particular qualifications the process can prove very straightforward.

  • Completion of an appropriate Advanced Apprenticeship;
  • A level 3 NVQ or SVQ - or an equivalent
  • A BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in Engineering or Construction;
  • A City & Guilds Higher Professional Diploma in Engineering.

If you do not have an approved qualification this certainly does not bar you from registration. The profession recognises that you can acquire skills and knowledge in other ways and your chosen institution will know how to assess those that are in this position.
