Changes to IoRW

Following the successful start-up phase, IoRW has now entered a dynamic new phase establishing itself as an independent body to serve the wide range of individuals and organisations that have a keen interest in rail welding. On 31 October 2004, IoRW changed from an individual membership to a corporate membership based organisation. Staff (or nominees) of member companies will have access to the benefits of IoRW as before. These continue to be:

  • A dedicated, regular newsletter and a web site.
  • Twice-yearly technical seminars.
  • Access to unified training materials for aluminothermic welding and arc welding.
  • A technical enquiry service for IoRW members through a network of experts.
  • Actively contributing to the continuing reduction in rail weld failures and weld rejects through enhanced quality systems and knowledge transfer.
  • Automatic access to the benefits of The Welding & Joining Society, which include Connect magazine, Welding and Cutting, JoinIT®, an e-mail newsletter, the Weldasearch information service and free access to TWI's library.

The future of IoRW depends on the success of the Corporate Membership scheme. All the main UK organisations with an interest in rail welding have now been invited to become corporate members. Many of them have already joined up.

IoRW is open to corporate membership on a world-wide basis.
