Rio Tinto expects to have all 200 locomotives on its Pilbara iron ore network operating without drivers by the end of 2018, Head of Growth & Innovation Stephen McIntosh told local media in mid-January. Following the first trial run with a fully autonomous train in October, Rio is now addressing the final software issues to complete the AutoHaul project, he reported.
