Rolling motorway targets transit freight

Rolling motorway targets transit freight

12 October 2018

CFR Narfa launched a rolling motorway service on July 26, having received financial support for the project from Romania's national environment fund. The service is aimed at transit traffic, running from Dornesti near the border with Ukraine to Giurgiu on the border with Bulgaria and Ruse across the River Danube in Bulgaria. The trains take around 18 hours to cover the 550km route. CFR Marfa General Manager Marinica Voicu said the government subsidy would ensure the provision of a stable service to enable the development of business relationships with customers, which would contribute to environmental protection and reducing road congestion.
