Rotherham based metal manufacturing specialist, MTL Advanced, has won a significant order from a rail industry OEM to supply complex safety critical fabrications that will ultimately be used on the London Crossrail project. The project has involved MTL working very closely with the customer to improve the initial design to ensure all critical to quality requirements are achieved. MTL, which is SEAP approved, is a supplier of Category 1 safety critical parts such as bolsters, bogie frames, body shell components and fuel tank. The new fabrications will be fully compliant to MTL's BS EN 15085 Class 2 rail welding accreditation. Over the last two years, MTL has invested in excess of £8M to place it at the forefront of contract manufacturing in the UK. MTL's facility boasts one of the largest laser cutting machine with automated handling systems in the UK, robotic pressing and welding capabilities, extensive CNC machining capability and state of the art paint facility. This is supported further with clean areas for carrying out assembly work.
