SNCF Logistics and maritime freight company Traxens have announced a partnership to develop technology for monitoring and real-time tracking of freight trains. This follows a year of research and testing of digital equipment for use in the rail environment. 'The digital freight train is a major innovation for placing rail freight at the heart of the transport offering in the twenty first century' said SNCF Logistics CEO Alain Picard. 'Our partnership with Traxens allows us to invent and implement a solution that will benefit all players in the sector: railway undertakings, wagon leasing companies and shippers'. Traxens was founded in Marseilles in 2012. Its shareholders include shipping companies CMA CGM and MSC. (Item contains no further information.)
